SEPTEMBER 12th - Chasing the Light, Cyanotype + Tea & Granola

September in Louisiana still feels a lot like summer, but the season is already beginning to turn. The days are slowly getting shorter, the light is changing, and the natural world is responding.

Join us for a slow afternoon of tea, granola and making as we use one of the oldest photographic processes to capture a little of that late-summer light.

We’ll explore the history of cyanotype and the work of botanist Anna Atkins, who used this beautiful blue-and-white process to document plant specimens nearly two centuries ago. Then, we’ll head into the sunshine and make our own botanical prints using leaves, flowers and other natural forms.

You'll begin with a small cyanotype on paper to experiment with arranging specimens and working with sunlight before creating your final piece: a botanical cyanotype tea towel to take home and use.

Your workshop includes:

• A practice botanical cyanotype on paper
• One cotton tea towel for your final cyanotype
• Botanicals and materials for printing
• All cyanotype supplies and tools
• Guided instruction from start to finish
• Tea and granola to enjoy while we gather and make

No experience necessary. Just come curious and ready to spend a little time in the September sun.
